How the Random Color Generator works

Colors here are built by drawing red, green, and blue channel values independently and uniformly at random, then constrained to the ranges that produce the chosen style: pastel mode keeps every channel bright (180–255) so results stay soft and light, dark mode keeps every channel low (0–90) for moody, deep tones, and 'any color' draws the full 0–255 range on each channel.

Each swatch displays both its hexadecimal code (the format used across CSS, design tools, and most software) and its raw RGB values, so you can copy whichever format your project needs.

How to use it

1
Pick a styleChoose any color, soft pastels, or dark moody tones depending on your project.
2
Set how manyGenerate a single color or a small palette of up to 12 at once.
3
Generate and copyEach swatch shows its hex code and RGB values, ready to paste into your design or code.

Frequently asked questions

Why do pastel colors look washed out sometimes?

Pastel mode restricts every RGB channel to a bright range, which by construction keeps saturation naturally low — that softness is the intended pastel look.

Can I generate a specific hue, like only blues?

Not currently — this tool generates full random colors rather than constraining a specific hue; for a fixed hue with varying lightness, adjust results manually after generating a few candidates.

Is this good for a coherent 5-color palette?

For loose inspiration, yes; for a professionally coherent palette (matching saturation and harmony rules), consider using generated colors as a jumping-off point rather than a final palette.
